RescuePet is a searchable database of rescued animals looking for good new homes, from a range of shelters, rescue organisations and breed rescues. Originally a UK-only site, RescuePet has relaunched and now supports international use.

If you are an animal shelter, from anywhere in the world and particularly the UK, please go ahead and register. Your registration will be checked by an administrator and converted to Shelter status on the RescuePet system. (This checking procedure hopefully will protect the site from abuse.) You will then be able to log in and start uploading photos and details of rescued animals in your care that you want to find new homes for.

Public users - please use RescuePet to find your next best friend and read about animal welfare news from across the world.

News - Please send any links for stories that RescuePet readers will want to read - e.g. reports of welfare issues, animal information, happy animal stories, succesful adoption stories and accounts.

Please use the Contact Us page to send stories and make initial contact.

9 Dartmoor ponies due to be shot unless homes can be found
Written by Administrator
Friday, 05 March 2010
These gorgeous dartmoor foals are due to be shot by the farmer that owns them in about 4 weeks time, unless homes can be found. Their fate is looking very bad right now. So far, no rescue has agreed to take them and private homes are sought.
PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP?!?

9 DARTMOOR HILL PONY COLT FOALS

They all need good genuine homes. They need you now. They have very uncertain futures.

They are all around 8 months old and will make between11-13hh

There are:
* 2 Red/Whites
* Dark brown with a white blaze down the face
* Light dun (Caramel/cream)
* Dark brown with star on forehead
* Browns and Bays

They are currently living on the moor;some are friendlier than others and some allow me to touch them. They were late foals last year and were too young to go to the sales and most werer colts.

WE DESPERATELY NEED HOMES FOR THESE GENTLE TEMPERAMENT PONIES.

Some one needs to care for these ponies. Please don't just feel sorry for them. Help them by giving them genuine homes. Could you or do you know someone that would?

PLEASE PHONE Mary ON TEL: 01752 346858 OR 07789676116.

Having spoken to Mary, she is a woman at her wits end trying to save these ponies. She and her friends have transport and are willing to help transport them if homes can be found.

She added this info:

They are Dartmoor Hill Ponies all late foals from last year and all colts. They will make 11'2-12hh and some 12-13hh approx. They are still on their mums and running free on the egdes of Dartmoor, on the moor in and around Lee Moor village between Cornwood and Shaugh Prior nr Plympton Plymouth. Their colours are Bays and dark browns, light dun (cream with black tails and points) a chocolate brown with white blaze and dark browns with stars and there is also 2 red/white one small than the other but beautifully marked.

Their fate is certain and will not see the summers, help has been offered for cheaper passporting/microchips and gelding for any serious home offered. A genuine home is needed for all these colts.

I feed them twice daily, I don't have to and I do not own them, I have spoken to the farmer and he doesn't know what to do with them and no-one has no money resession etc., he doesn't want to shoot them and prefer them to get homes instead.

I have and will try to get as many homes as possible with the help of people like yourselves. Any help would be appreciated and thankyou.

ROLDA sterilization campaign

ROLDA

Our friends at ROLDA are doing a sterilization campaign at the moment. They hope to reach a total of 5000 sterilizations done in Galati since they started the campaign in 2004. They have another 500 sterilizations to do in order to reach that target.

Why is sterilization so important?

Because it prevents puppies being born into awful, inhumane, cruel street conditions. It is hard for us in the UK to imagine how truly terrible conditions are for Romanian street dogs. Things are not good here in places, but in Romania the problem is horrific.

ROLDA is run by an incredible young lady who has achieved more in her 20s than the vast majority of people ever achieve in a lifetime. She is my rescue hero and I beg all who support me to support her also.

Whereas sterilizations cost about £100 in the UK (or about £40 if done at cost in rescues), in Romania they cost somewhere in the region of £20. If all the visitors that came to this website each paid for one sterilization, we would enable ROLDA to reach it's target in less than a month. Wouldn't that be incredible?! Think of all the suffering we could prevent between us!

Please donate what you can via their paypal link: http://www.rolda.org/en/Campaigns/

 Thank you!

Caroline

Save Bruce

Dear all,

You may remember the links I sent to the videos of Bruce's story, well court date came on Monday 29th and Bruce's owner Shannon has posted the sad, despicable news that the judge has ordered that Bruce be put to sleep on Monday. How could the judge have ordered Bruce's death after all he and his family have been through? Here is the link, below, to Bruce's Bebo group where Shannon posted the news 11 hours ago. I will be telephoning David Brown on the numbers Shannon has posted tomorrow and I hope to find out more, please do the same if you can and I'm hoping between us if we share this news quickly and get some details to International media, TV stations etc, we might make a breakthrough to save this innocent dog's life. He has done nothing wrong and he has suffered immensely simply for being born a bully breed of unproven origin. Bruce even had a rescue place waiting at a shelter specialising in bully breeds. Death cannot be an option can it? Please help if you can and share this update, thanks, Maria xx
