If so, we are delighted to welcome you to the new RescuePet system and trust you will like it's changes. Please re-register as we have started with a totally new database structure. We will be emailing old users of RescuePet to invite them to register on the new site.

How does RescuePet help shelters?

 In it's first year of operation, RescuePet helped shelters and breed rescues rehome over 400 dogs. With it's new launch, and many improvements, RescuePet intends to be even more effective.

As you will probably have seen on the site by now, RescuePet is a database of details and photos of animals at shelters, waiting for new homes. It is searchable by the public - thus enabling prospective owners to find out what animals are in need of a home in their area.

One of the reasons some animals have to wait in shelters for so long before they find a new home is that people just don't know they are there. For example, my own greyhound was in a shelter for 12 months before I adopted him. Although frequently admired and loved by all who met him, he had gone unnoticed in a shelter for a year. This is what led to the creation of RescuePet in 2003.

 Registration 

Please click the "Register" link on the Login Box (left column of most pages), or go direct to the Registration page: http://rescuepet.org/index.php?option=com_registration&task=register

Once you have registered, please email the administrator ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and ask to join RescuePet as a shelter/rescue org/breed rescue. The administrator will then log in to the backend of the system and convert your registration to Shelter status. This will enable you to log in and see the Shelter and User menus:
